Understanding Severe Asthma

Asthma is a disease caused by airway inflammation in the lungs. These airways are small tubes called bronchial tubes that allow air to enter and exit the lungs. In asthmatics, the bronchi are inflamed. Swelling or inflammation makes the airways extremely sensitive to irritation and increases the susceptibility to allergic reactions. People who have this type should change or adapt their lifestyle so that their condition is controlled and does not get worse. The general activities of the people diagnosed are affected, and there are some activities that they can’t perform because of their state of health. It’s also common that sleep disorders occur in people diagnosed with this type.

Frequent hospital stays and doctor visits are not new to people with this type of asthma. This type requires accurate and careful monitoring to control better and treat the condition for each patient.

Some common causes of this type of asthma include exercise, frequent allergens, and cold air. There are medications that control attacks, but the best and most reliable way to deal with severe attacks is hospitalization.

It’s very important for people to be able to know the signs and severity of asthma as early as possible so that intervention can be given before the situation worsens and becomes more complicated. It’s said that the earliest treatment of asthma is the most effective.
